Question 8 - Mass on Sunday

Father, what sin is it to miss Mass on a Sunday?

It is a grave sin (a mortal sin) to miss Holy Mass on a Sunday or a Holy Day of Obligation without a serious reason, such as sickness, living far away from a Traditional Catholic church, and some other serious reasons. It means that if you have missed Mass on a Sunday by your fault, you should go to Confession before receiving Holy Communion.

If you go on vacation, you should plan to be able to attend Mass during your vacation. One cannot just «take a time off» from Church without committing a serious sin. To attend Holy Mass on Sundays is a grave obligation of Christians, and a Commandment from Holy Mother the Church.

If you have a job that prevents you from going to Mass on Sundays on a regular basis, you should see with your employer if you can have a schedule that would allow you to go to Mass on Sundays. If not, you should find another job, if possible.

Remember, we have only one life, one single soul. If we lose our soul by failing to obey the Commandments of God and of his Church, we lose it for all eternity.

One who would be prevented from attending Mass on Sundays, with no possibility of doing anything, should at least sanctify his Sunday by other prayers and attend a weekly Mass if possible.

The Novus Ordo mass (the New mass) does not sanctify the Day of the Lord. It should be avoided by all means as a sacrifice that is unpleasing to God. It comes from Masonic Lodges and, provided that you know it is evil, will lead you to lose your soul if you unite yourself to it.
